The Burns Home Value Index™ (BHVI) measures home value trends for all homes (new and resale) in 133 markets, allowing us to report on and forecast price appreciation without the noise of shifts in the mix of homes selling, as well as other issues. Our BHVI is more current than most other indexes, tracking data from up to one month prior to publication.

The Burns Affordability Index™ (BAI) provides our historical, current, and forecasted housing-cost-to-income ratio for 140+ metros and the United States monthly from 1985 to present. The index shows how expensive a market is relative to other metros and its own history.

The Burns Under/Overpriced Market Index™ measures how under/overpriced a market is compared to its history and forecasted future by comparing the Burns Affordability Index™ against an expected new normal housing-cost-to-income ratio for a market.
